Kevin Sheekey, the man behind Michael Bloomberg's meteoric rise from common billionaire to term-busting mayor, is stepping down.
In a press release, Bloomberg lauded the Deputy Mayor for Government Affairs, saying "Kevin helped lead the way as this Administration advanced our education, sustainability, housing, immigration, and fiscal responsibility agendas."
Taking his place is Howard Wolfson, the political consulting legend. Wolfson will be promoted to deputy mayor.
Sheekey will not be moving far, though, as he will be rejoining Bloomberg LP where he worked from 1997-2001.
