Daley Gives Old Recycling Center Contracts To Politically Connected Ex Blue Baggers

While Mayor Richard M. Daley has changed tactics on residential recycling in an effort to build public participation in the program, that has not stopped him from recycling some of the politically connected people with prior experience at his once-vaunted Blue Bag plants.

The Blue Bag program was officially halted a couple of years ago, the victim of Chicagoans' unwillingness to participate. It was brought into disrepute after disclosures that virtually all of the key contracts were held by firms with political and personal ties to the mayor.
