Shannon Meehan, an Iraq war veteran and co-author of a book, has announced he is running for state representative (D) in Pennsylvania's 163rd district.
"I will continue to serve," Meehan said in making the announcement.
Meehan co-wrote the book "Beyond Duty: Life On The Front Line" with Roger Thompson and is scheduled to appear at a book signing tomorrow in Johnstown, Pa.

He suffers from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder) and was a decorated tank commander for his unit in Iraq.
Meehan has widely been praised for his leadership abilities.
