Obama's Next Door Neighbors: House Not Sold Yet, Negotiations In The Works (PHOTOS)

In what seemed like an April Fool's prank, the house next door to President Obama's Hyde Park home went from "for sale", to "sold" and back to negotiations--all within a few minutes Thursday.

Bill and Jacky Grimshaw's home at 5040 S. Greenwood Ave. has been up for sale since September, according to NBC Chicago. When a Chicago Tribune reporter spoke to the family's daughter on Thursday, she told them the home had been sold--but not so fast.

"It is not sold," Trish Hoffman, a spokeswoman for the property's listing agent told the Huffington Post. "It is under negotiations, but not closed."

The Grimshaw's have lived in the 17-room home since 1973, and were finishing their packing on Thursday.

Though the home has not sold, the brief confusion caused the Blitz Group, a Chicago-based publicity and media relations company, to be slammed with phone calls asking about the new buyers. Realtor Matt Garrison hired Blitz to handle the media attention that surrounded the president's next door neighbors.

The Grimshaws sometimes babysat Sasha and Malia Obama, and Jacky is close to Michelle, NBC reports. The family wanted to move into a smaller condo.

Hoffman said the potential buyers could start closing in a day, or walk away--and that nothing is set in stone yet.
