Boulder Teachers Argue With District Over Academic Freedom, Compensation

Compensation is at the heart of a contract dispute between the Boulder Valley School District and its teachers' union, but the two sides also are at odds over the district's academic freedom policies.

The dispute was exemplified in the district's handling of President Barack Obama's nationwide speech to students in September, according to Melissa Tingley, president of the teachers' union.
