'Nightline' Hits Ratings Record With Jesse James Interview

"Nightline" had a record night Tuesday.

The ABC News program saw its best overnight ratings since the program re-launched in 2005, averaging 6.817 million total viewers and scoring a 2.29 rating in the demo.

On the program, Jesse James opened up to Vicki Mabrey about his marriage to Sandra Bullock and the affair that ended it.

The program re-launched with its three anchors -- Cynthia McFadden, Terry Moran, and Martin Bashir -- on November 28, 2005.

The previous ratings high since the show re-launched occurred on November 27, 2007; that broadcast, which benefitted from a "Dancing with the Stars" finale on the network earlier in the night, covered sleep research, a real estate boom, and a report on the end of a drought in Atlanta.
