Jimmy Buffett Gulf Concert Postponed, But He Played Surprise Show

In solidarity with Gulf Coast residents and businesses struggling because of the recent oil spill, Jimmy Buffett has planned a free concert in Gulf Shores, Alabama to raise spirits and boost tourism.

The show was originally planned for July 1. Organizers hoped the concert would help resuscitate the tourism industry in the region over the holiday weekend. However, severe weather caused by Hurricane Alex caused the concert to be postponed to July 11.

Although the full-scale concert had to be postponed, Buffett still put on a show July 1. He showed up at Lulu's Sunset Grill, a restaurant owned by his sister, to surprise diners with an impromptu performance.

CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends Live From the Gulf Coast will air live on Country Music Television on July 11 at 6 p.m. CST. Country Music Television is encouraging supporters to get involved with the Natural Resources Defense Council to take action for the Gulf.
