Russell Simmons moved out of this condo in 1996, but like a fine wine, the apartment seems to have gotten better with age. Simmons sold the place for $1.65 million fourteen years ago; today, it's going for $4.695 million.
A former garment factory, the Silk Building is stationed above a Tower Records on Broadway and East Fourth Street. Simmons' former apartment occupies the penthouse, a 3,400-square-foot triplex loft.
According to Corcoran, the apartment "was featured on the lifestyles of the Rich and Famous."
And it's easy to see why.
The unit boasts a private roof top terrace, an onyx wood burning fireplace, a media/solarium room, and is comprised of eighteen rooms total.
The apartment once came with an additional perk (or problem, depending on how you're looking at it): Britney Spears as a neighbor. She sold her condo in 2006.
