Move over, Baryshnikov. For those who associate the world of Russian ballet with pink tutus and men in tights, a new dance icon may be emerging.
At the rehearsals for "The Invincible and the Legendary," a grand theatrical spectacle set to debut at the opening day of Russian Engineering Technologies International Forum 2010, a quartet of Russian T-90 tanks spin in unison and weave in figure-eights, set to the music of Ravel's "Bolero."
According to Popular Mechanics, the heavily-armored pas de quatre was "choreographed" by Andrei Melanyin, head of the State Academic Bolshoi Theater of Russia, and is just one segment of a full-scale theatrical production depicting key moments in Russian military history.
