Marbella, Spain is preparing itself for the arrival of Michelle and Sasha Obama on Wednesday, according to the Agence France Presse.

A large billboard reading "Welcome Obama Family: Thank you for choosing Marbella!" painted in red, white and blue hung in the city.

Perhaps the place that will get the most attention is their hotel for 4 days, the five-star Hotel Villa Padierna, a Ritz-Carlton property, which now boasts a large U.S. flag above its entrance to welcome the ladies. Roads were also repaved in preparation for their visit.

The hotel lies three miles from the coast, with rooms going from $330 to $6,600 per night.

The hotel's owner, Ricardo Arranz, told the AFP that the Obama women asked for "nothing special" throughout their stay. "We must ensure that they can enjoy not only the hotel but the whole coast relatively normally so that visits like this can take place in the future," he added.

Even the town's mayor got in on the action: "We can boast of being a place where many are proud to spend their holidays or have their second homes," Angeles Munoz said at a news conference on Tuesday.

Public Works Minister Jose Blanco told the AFP: "The fact that the Obama family has chosen Spain for their holiday is a reason to feel proud, it is positive for Spain, and it also reflects that Spain plays a role in the world that is recognis[z]ed."

The mother-daughter duo will be on a private trip with family friends, leaving President Obama and Malia behind in the States. Wednesday is the president's 49th birthday and Malia is at summer camp.

Though it's a private trip, Michelle is scheduled to meet with Spain's King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia on Majorca, the White House said.
