Gap & Valentino Partner On Fall Collection

Retail's Newest Marriage

Fashion's latest marriage is that of Gap and Valentino, with the two teaming up to create a womenswear collection to hit stores in late November, WWD reports. Valentino's creative directors Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli took "iconic Gap pieces" and redesigned them using the fashion house's aesthetic. Chiuri and Piccioli told WWD the project "brings together the iconic world of Valentino and Gap's fashion essentials. In this way, Valentino and Gap synthesize the current trend of combining luxury with basics."

Stephen Sunnucks, President of Gap Europe and Strategic Alliances remarked to the Telegraph, "We're thrilled to be welcomed by the House of Valentino, with its unique position in Italy's fashion heritage, and to work with Maria Grazia and Pier Paolo, and their modern, fresh take on women's style."

The collection is timed to hit Milan, London and Paris stores--and unfortunately no stores in the U.S.--as Gap launches on Milan's Corso Vittorio Emanuele. It will also (coincidentally?) be in stock when H&M and Lanvin's collaboration debuts.
