Adam Wainwright Feuds With Ex-Cardinal Jack Clark

FEUD: MLBer Clashes With Ex-Player

Former St. Louis Cardinal Jack Clark blasted his former team in September for letting their playoff hopes slip away. He went so far as to call them "pathetic." Unsurprisingly, Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright didn't appreciate Clark's comments.

Speaking on ESPN 101 in St. Louis, Wainwright defended his team and fired back at Clark.

"Those were stupid comments. Hopefully he knows that anyways," Wainwright said. "It's one thing to say that somebody lacked effort or something. It's another thing to say that an entire team in a blanket statement are quitters or pathetic."

Clark told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he was seeing a "pathetic effort" from the Cardinals. "These Cards fans deserve much better," said Clark. "That's just awful. They won't admit it, that they're quitters."

Wainwright said Clark has to be ready for the consequences of his comments. The 20-game winner went on to say that his team didn't quit. Instead, he believes they simply haven't played well.
