Rupert Murdoch Trashes Bill O'Reilly, Praises Glenn Beck In Interview

Murdoch TRASHES O'Reilly, Praises Beck

In an interview with an Australian newspaper, News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch harshly criticized Bill O'Reilly for an interview he conducted with Hillary Clinton, while praising Glenn Beck lavishly.

Media Matters found the story, published in the Australian Financial Review (subscription required).

In the interview, Murdoch said that "people love Fox News." When the interviewer countered that "some people don't," Murdoch conceded that "half hate it, half love it."

Then, according to Media Matters, Murdoch brought up Bill O'Reilly.

"Bill O'Reilly gets Hillary Clinton on. He's disgraceful the way he gives her such an easy ride," he said.

Murdoch also reportedly gloated that "we're beating the shit out of CNN."

He had nothing but kind words, however, for Glenn Beck.

"He is a little bit of an actor, he looks in the camera all the time," he said. "He's very genuine, extremely well-read libertarian, doesn't make any secret of it. He says don't trust the government, don't trust me, just trust yourselves. He's hit a nerve. Millions -- millions -- watch him at five in the afternoon!"
