Colorado Government Auctions Feed Global Trade In Toxic E-Waste

Coloradans who buy new electronics this holiday season can legally dump their old computers, cellphones and other electronic waste in the trash.

Only 13 states have any sort of ban on sending household e-waste to the landfill. Colorado isn't one of them.

But the state does ban dumping of e-waste from businesses and government agencies. Those entities could be fined for illegally disposing of hazardous waste -- though none ever has been.
