'Dolls For Daughters': Jessica Bachus Channels Personal Grief To Help Needy Kids On Christmas

One Woman Turns Holiday Grief Into A Mission To Help

When Jessica Bachus' daughter was stillborn over the holiday season four years ago, the young mother was crushed.

Bachus told CBS News,

"Since I couldn't give a doll to my daughter, I wanted to give dolls to other girls in the community."

Turning her grief into action, Bachus started a local toy drive to spread Christmas cheer to little girls whose families can't afford gifts. Bachus founded a nonprofit, Dolls For Daughters, to help her carry out her mission.

Over the last three years, the drive continues to grow -- and now includes toys for boys too. In 2009, they distributed over 1,000 gifts to children in Colorado.
