NFL Urged Toyota To Remove Helmet-To-Helmet Hit From TV Ad

Report: NFL Urged Toyota To Edit TV Ad

Toyota spokesman Tim Morrison recently told Reuters that the National Football League urged the car maker to remove a helmet-to-helmet hit from a television ad.

"The NFL saw it on Monday Night Football and the next morning we got the call," Morrison said. "They weren't happy."

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told Reuters that "from time to time, we will address an ad that portrays our sport unfairly."

Toyota edited the commercial after the NFL said it wouldn't be aired during NFL games if it wasn't changed.

The league has been cracking down on dangerous hits since October, when it was announced that they would start suspending players, particularly for helmet-to-helmet collisions.

The NFL received a large amount of negative feedback from the players after several were fined.
