Brandon Meriweather's Lawyer: He Did Not Shoot

The lawyer for Brandon Meriweather reportedly claimed on Monday that his client should not be a suspect and was not responsible for a Florida shooting on Feb. 28.

Bianca Prieto of the Orlando Sentinel reported that Fort Lauderdale attorney Adam Swickle handed in witness statements to investigators that prove the Patriots safety was not the shooter.

According to the report, Swickle claimed that Meriweather "was nothing but a peace-keeper" and witnesses said he never had a gun.

Earlier in March, Meriweather was accused of shooting two men outside a house party in Apopka, Fla. The attorney of the victims claimed that a bullet "grazed" a man's face and another person was struck in the head.

The Orange County Sheriff's office confirmed that the 27-year-old was present at the shooting.

The victims were reportedly high school classmates of Meriweather's.
