Craig Mrazek Gets 18 Years For Long-Time Molestation Of Young Female Relative

Craig Mrazek of Hickory Hills, Illinois was sentenced to 18 years in prison on Tuesday for sexually assaulting a young girl from the time she was seven years old until she was 16.

Mrazek molested the girl, whom the Chicago Sun-Times describes as "a close female relative," on a weekly basis from 1996 to 2004, a spokesman for the State's Attorney's office said.

The abuse was revealed years later, in 2009, when the victim's mother found and read the then-21-year-old's diaries, which detailed the crimes. She reportedly confronted Mrazek and notified the police.

Mrazek pled guilty to three felony counts, for which he was sentenced to 18 years in prison, according to the Chicago Tribune. Eighty-five percent of that time, or a little more than 15 years, is mandatory.

CBS reports that Mrazek's wife divorced him after the charges were filed. He has three children, the oldest of whom is twelve.
