Kevin Costner In 'Django Unchained': Quentin Tarantino's New Film Casts Star

Kevin Costner Goes Evil Slave Driver

Here's a juxtaposition: Kevin Costner will next play Superman's goodhearted dad... and an evil slave driver who forces his slaves to fight to the death.

According to Deadline, Costner will play Ace Woody in Quentin Tarantino's next film, "DJango Unchained." He'll team up with Leonardo DiCaprio -- in another unlikely bad guy casting -- as slave owners who mistreat, kill and set up battle royales amongst the charges.

A spaghetti western in the style of Italian director Sergio Corbucci and Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike, the film will feature Jamie Foxx as a former slave bent on revenge and rescuing his family, and Christoph Waltz will be the headhunter who helps him take down Costner and DiCaprio's characters.

As noted, Costner will play Pa Kent in the upcoming Superman reboot, "Man of Steel," a more typical role for the man who took down gangsters in "The Untouchables" and inspired baseball fans the world round in "Field of Dreams."
