Lawrence O'Donnell Roasts GOP For Playing 'The Town' At Debt Ceiling Meeting (VIDEO)

WATCH: O'Donnell Swears, Roasts GOP For Watching Violent Affleck Movie

Lawrence O'Donnell mocked the House Republican Caucus for using the Ben Affleck movie "The Town" to pump itself up.

Speaking on his Wednesday show, O'Donnell pointed out that the movie--about Boston bank robbers and the various bank robber-related activities they get up to--is not exactly synonymous with stated GOP values. He then proceeded to play a particularly violent, gun-drenched clip from the movie.

The idea to play the movie before a big vote on the debt ceiling (which was then delayed) apparently came from House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy. O'Donnell called him "the most misguided House Majority Whip in history," and wondered how a "good Christian" like him could have played a clip of people gearing up "to beat the living shit out of a guy." (O'Donnell even got bleeped for swearing.)

He also echoed Affleck's own suggestion of a better Affleck movie to watch: "The Company Men," which deals less with violent crime and more with the Great Recession.
