Earthquake Strikes Off Indonesian Coast

The United States Geological Survey reports that a magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck off the west coast of Indonesia at 9:25 p.m. local time, or 10:35 a.m. EDT.

The earthquake's epicenter was about 150 miles from the province of Bengkulu and 419 miles southwest of Singapore, the USGS reports. It occurred in the Kepulauan Mentawai islands region at a depth of 5.8 miles.

There are no reports of damage. According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, no tsunami warning has been issued.

In April, a magnitude 6.7 earthquake struck 200 miles off the coast of the Indonesian island of Java.

And in June, a magnitude 6.4 earthquake shook the country's Papua province.
