'John Denver Peak' Debate Makes NPR's 'All Things Considered'

LISTEN: 'John Denver Peak' Debate Hits NPR

The much-publicized debate over whether or not to rename Mount Sopris, a peak west of Aspen, after John Denver, received a bit more attention yesterday. National Public Radio featured a piece by KUNC's Kirk Siegler in a three and a half minute run-down on the debate.

Siegler interviews J.P. McDaniel, of Littleton, Colorado, the woman proposing the name-change and a voice that hasn't been present in much other coverage. "To the state, to the region, John Denver is part of our history here, in the minds of people, in the hearts of people and geographically," she said.
