Emily Dunn Remembered: 23-Year-Old, Struck And Killed By MUNI Bus (PHOTOS)

PHOTOS: Remembering Emily Dunn, 23-Year-Old Killed In Muni Accident

On Friday, a San Francisco woman, Emily Dunn, was struck and killed by a MUNI bus in the Castro while crossing the street in a crosswalk, as reported by SF Streetsblog. She was 23 years old.

According to her LinkedIn page, Dunn was passionate about the entertainment industry and had founded an artist relations and hospitality company called Well Dunn Entertainment. Dunn helped organize several popular concerts and festivals, including Bonnaroo, Wanderlust and Outside Lands. She moved to San Francisco from Atlanta less than one month ago to pursue her dreams, according to the Examiner.

But on Friday afternoon, those dreams were cut short when she was struck in the crosswalk at the intersection of 18th and Hartford Streets. Dunn was about 95 percent of the way across the street when the bus made a left-hand turn and pinned her beneath. No passengers were aboard the bus and the street was not a usual MUNI route, according to The Examiner. The driver was making his way across town to another route.

"The driver is shaken up by this," a MUNI spokesperson told the Chronicle. The driver has agreed to drug and alcohol testing and, according to MUNI, there is no reason to believe he was impaired.

Moments before the incident, Dunn spoke cheerfully to her mother on the phone, as reported by The Examiner. "It was a very happy conversation," remembered her mother, Deborah Dunn. "She loved the city and she loved her job." Dunn had been working with Superfly, an entertainment company, helping set up a San Francisco office.

"She was truly wise beyond her years," said Rick Farman, a partner at Superfly, to The Examiner. "She made a lot of relationships in our world in a very short period of time. Everyone at the company was really looking forward to working with her, and right now we’re just devastated."
