National Guard Trucks Get Stuck In Hurricane Irene Flood Water (VIDEO)

WATCH: National Guard Trucks Try To Drive Underwater, Have To Be Rescued

National Guard troops responding on Sunday to the flooding caused by Tropical Storm Irene in New Jersey apparently had to get rescued when the water they were driving through became too much for their vehicles.

A video shows the trucks easily driving through the floodwater, but moments later, the troops are forced to evacuate to the top of their trucks to wait for rescuers.

According to The Star-Ledger, the video was shot on South Main Street in Manville. The Star-Ledger also has a photo of the National Guard troops being helped by the local fire department.

Residents from North Carolina to Vermont continue to deal with the aftermath of Irene, which has caused at least 40 deaths in 8 states, according to the Associated Press. The AP also reports that as of Tuesday morning, nearly five million people remain without power.
