Sir Wilfred Camaligan Charged With Holding Ex-Girlfriend Captive For More Than 2 Months (VIDEO)

Man Allegedly Held Ex-Girlfriend Prisoner For 2 Months, Nearly Killed Her

A man was arrested Friday after allegedly abusing and holding his former girlfriend captive in his apartment on Chicago's Northwest Side for more than two months.

Sir Wilfred Camaligan, 22, has been charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and aggravated domestic battery after he allegedly kept a 20-year-old woman in his Jefferson Park apartment in the 5300 block of W. Lawrence Ave. since July 15, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The woman reportedly escaped after Camaligan let her leave his apartment to run an errand Friday. Once she left, she asked a stranger to borrow their cell phone, with which she text messaged her mother. Her mother called 911 and rushed to her daughter, who was "badly bruised," according to the Sun-Times.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the victim was taken to Resurrection Medical Center for treatment after she was found with a number of bruises and fractured bones. The woman also sustained possible hearing loss, in addition to cuts that the victim said Camaligan, who went by the nickname "Flyboyz," forced her to inflict upon herself.

FOX Chicago reports that no one living near Camaligan's apartment noticed anything out of the ordinary, though one neighbor said she had heard fighting and screaming coming from the apartment some months before. She told FOX Chicago she did not alert authorities because she didn't want to get involved

Camaligan remains in police custody and is scheduled to appear in bond court Sunday.
