DUI Near Millenium Park Kills Washington Man

A man from Chicago's Near West Side has been charged in a Saturday morning DUI near Millenium Park that left a visiting Washington man dead.

Jimmy Members, 45, was driving a 1999 Cadillac Seville near Millenium Park when he allegedly struck a pedestrian at the intersection of Lake Shore Dr. and Monroe at 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, ABC Chicago reports.

The victim was identified as 50-year-old Stephen Dapogny, from his home in Redmond, Wash., according to the Chicago Tribune.

Authorities suspected alcohol was involved in the crash and took Members into custody at the scene, police told the Tribune.

Members, the 2400 block of West Madison Street, was initially cited with hitting a pedestrian in the roadway before being charged Monday with felony aggravated DUI resulting in death and DUI, according to Fox Chicago. He is expected to appear in Central Bond Court late Monday morning.
