Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway At HitRecord Fall Formal (VIDEO)

Two of the biggest young movie stars in the world stood on stage, singing a romantic French tune... and in between them stood a young woman, found on the internet, singing along. After all, she did write the song.

Welcome to HitRecord, the growing online collaborative community that shares kernels of stories, songs, films and other art and shapes, remixes and creates new, fuller works. Run by Gordon-Levitt when he isn't busy making major hit films, the group came together in person to celebrate its Fall Formal on Monday night, creating a performance art event in which they not only celebrated what they had produced, but turned the celebration itself into a production, with members filming, tweeting and participating in on-stage events.

The collective gives anyone an opportunity to participate and contribute creatively, a populist wave in the sea of Hollywood hierarchy. Still, the night had its fair share of star power, including an appearance by Anne Hathaway. Along with Gordon-Levitt, she sang a French song written by the user Metaphorist, who stood between them as they crooned her soft Franco melody.

The evening also included appearances by Neil Patrick Harris and JGL's co-star in the upcoming new Batman movie, Gary Oldman.
