Hollywood Film Festival 2011: The Top LA-Based Movies

PHOTOS: Celebrate Indie LA At The Hollywood Film Fest

This Friday evening, the 15th annual Hollywood Film Festival (HFF) takes over the Hollywood Arclight Cinemas.

Presented by Starz Entertainment, the four-day-long festival is featuring films, documentaries and shorts that were chosen to blend the big-time stars with emerging indie films. The festivities will kick-off with the LA-based romantic comedy "DORFMAN," staring Sara Rue.

The award ceremony that concludes the festival marks the unofficial start of awards season. Indeed, in the last eight years, "27 Oscars® were given to the nominees and honorees of the Hollywood Awards®," reports the HFF. This year, the festival is honoring "Footloose" director Craig Brewer, who originally got his start at HFF before directing "Hustle and Flow" and "Black Snake Moan".

Tickets and more information are available through ArcLight.
