Barack Obama Campaign 2012 Gets Official Tumblr Blog

Tumblr Gets A Very Important Customer

Barack Obama's campaign maintains accounts on a variety of social media platforms, including Twitter, Foursquare, Facebook and now Tumblr.

That's right, Barack Obama is coming to the fast-growing blog site, which completed an $85 million round of funding back in September, according to Reuters.

A tweet from the President's official Twitter feed, controlled by his re-election campaign staff, announced the new Tumblr account on Monday.

Check out the tweet (below):

The first post on the campaign's Tumblr asked readers to submit their own content to the blog via the site's submission feature. The President's blog will undoubtedly use the site's "reblog" option to curate content on its own, too.

We'd like this Tumblr to be a huge collaborative storytelling effort -- a place for people across the country to share what's going on in our respective corners of it and how we're getting involved in this campaign to keep making it better.

The post also asks users to submit selectively and respectfully: "There will be trolls among you: this we know. We ask only that you remember that we're people--fairly nice one--and that your mother would want you to be polite."
