Kim Kardashian Divorce: Dr. Phil Weighs In On 'The Talk'

WATCH: Sharon Osbourne Talks Kardashian Split: 'It Makes A Mockery Of Marriage'

Ever since Kim Kardashian's divorce from Kris Humphries was confirmed on Monday, rumors have been circulating about why the two suddenly split.

On Tuesday's "The Talk", Dr. Phil explained why the relationship might have gone south, despite its fairy-tale beginnings: "People focus on the wedding and not the marriage," said the relationship expert. "And they forget that when the party's over, [they] gotta merge two lives together."

Dr. Phil isn't the only one who thinks that the eager couple was distracted by the details of their nuptials. Other divorce experts have also speculated that Kardashian and Humphries may have been "too caught up in the thrill" of planning their televised $10 million dollar wedding.

The couple's 72-day marriage is generating a lot of frustration for advocates of same-sex marriage. "It makes a mockery of marriage, of the union," says "The Talk" co-host Sharon Osbourne, who has been married to her husband Ozzy for 29 years. "The thing is, there are millions of people in this country who are gay or lesbian who have been together for years, who want to unite as one and they can't. But yet you can go have a silly marriage...which is a silly marriage."

Ultimately, Dr. Phil had some advice to offer to married couples: "You work at it, you earn your way out," he said. "You don't just quit because it isn't fun anymore."
