Matt Duchene Goal: Avalanche Player Makes Amazing Move To Score Against Penguins (VIDEO)

NHL Player Scores Goal With Amazing Move

Although it is usually cited for its brutality, when played at the highest level, hockey can be a sport of remarkable finesse.

Exhibit A: Matt Duchene.

In a play many are calling the best goal thus far of the young NHL season, Duchene was able to completely fake out a helpless Pittsburgh Penguins defender by pretending to shoot before putting the puck between his legs and then firing it past the goalie. Requiring a tremendous blend of skill and balance, Duchene left opposing players and fans with little else to do but stare in amazement once the puck hit the back of the net.

While the opposing fans in Pittsburgh may not have reacted kindly to the amazing play, the court of public Twittpinion was quick to give Duchene his due.

With play of the year conversations almost set to start up, you can trust that this isn't the last you've seen of Duchene's goal.

Unfortunately for the Avalanche center, the amazing strike only counted for one goal rather than four. Colorado went on to lose the game to Pittsburgh 6-3.
