MTA Tours Delancey's Abandoned Trolley Station (VIDEO)

WATCH: Tour The Remarkable Abandoned Trolley Station At Delancey Street

Back in September, we were lucky enough to get a preview of a potentially awesome new project planned for the Lower East Side called the Delancey Underground, which is hoping to transform the Delancey subway station's abandoned railway into a unique, green community space similar to the popular High Line in Chelsea.

Now in funding mode, creators James Ramsey and Dan Barasch are seeking private donations to help build their plan into fruition.

While Delancey Underground hasn't reeled in high powered supporters like the High Line's Diller-von-Furstenberg Foundation just yet, the project seems to be tickling the fancy of the MTA who last week, produced a wonderfully interesting tour of the abandoned space to help boost awareness.

The tour is led by Peter Hine, a senior project manager for the MTA's Real Estate Department. Hine discusses the MTA's excitement over the prospective, creative opportunities for the 60,000 square foot space.

Get excited and check out the MTA's video and preview the Delancey Underground below.
