Thousands Go To Church To Pray To Saint For The Desperate

MEXICO CITY - Shopkeepers and farmers, gang members and addicts, the lame and the lost - they gather each 28th day of the month to beseech favor, to give thanks, to profess their trust in benevolence and miracle.

They flock by the thousands to a colonial church in the heart of the Mexican capital, venerating St. Jude, patron saint of the desperate.
