CNN's "American Morning" signed off on Friday, after ten years on the air.
In November, CNN announced that it would dismantle its morning show and replace it with two new programs. The first show will run from 5-7 a.m., and the other from 7-9 a.m. "American Morning's" ratings had been floundering, and the show had fallen into third place behind Fox News' "Fox and Friends," and MSNBC's "Morning Joe."
With the new shows, which will be titled "Early Start" and "Starting Point," the network also announced the return of former "American Morning" anchor, Soledad O'Brien. O'Brien left "American Morning in 2007 to work on CNN documentaries and special programming. She will debut on "Starting Point" from Des Moines, Iowa on January 3, 2012.
