'Portlandia' Stars Cover Salt-N-Pepa: Fred Armisen And Carrie Brownstein Sing 'Push It' With Thao & Mirah (VIDEO)

WATCH: 'Portlandia' Cover Salt N Pepa

Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein kicked off a "Portlandia" live tour in December to promote season two of the show, and at Friday's performance in San Francisco they were joined onstage by indie duo Thao & Mirah to cover Salt-N-Pepa's '80s hit "Push It."

While you might not expect two sketch comedians to have musical chops, the "Portlandia" duo are notable exceptions. Brownstein is a guitarist formerly of Sleater-Kinney and currently of Wild Flag, and Armisen was a rock drummer before finding his place in the comedy world (although he still plays a live Devo tune every now and again), so this is pretty much the Dream Team as far as funny-people-playing-instruments goes.

Check out the awesome cover above, and be sure to check out "Portlandia" season two, which premieres this Friday, Jan. 6 at 10 pm, 9 Central on IFC.
