Air's 'Sonic Armada' Off 'Le Voyage Dans La Lune' (VIDEO)

French Duo Air Goes Into Space

Last year, the French electronica duo known as Air premiered their score for George Melies' 1902 silent classic about little green men on the moon, "Le Voyage Dans La Lune" ("A Trip To The Moon"). The movie's last surviving color print was rediscovered in 1993, and underwent years of restorative work to prepare it for the 2011 Cannes premiere. Air -- who produce ambient music in line with their name -- was hired to give it a fitting soundtrack Melies couldn't have.

Lucky for Air fans, the 10 minute-long score yielded enough extra output to merit a full-length album, the group's first since 2009, called, no surprise, Le Voyage Dans La Lune.

This week saw a second teased track from the upcoming album -- the voiceless, lush "Sonic Armada" (the first-dropped single, "Seven Stars," features vocals by Beach House's Victoria Legrand). Check out the video below, set to images from Mieles' film. We're hearing The Beta Band's "Space" at the beginning, but that could just be the shared theme tricking us.

Le Voyage Dans La Lune, releases in full on Feb 7.
