Blogger Reveals Her Fashion Regrets

Stylelist is about all kinds of fashion for all kinds of women. So in our Stylelist Blogger Network (which you should check out if you haven't already), we've teamed up with some of our best style bloggers and sites. Over the following weeks, we'll be introducing you to its members with these Q&As.

We are happy to present to you Carolina Amaris of Love Is The New Black, an art enthusiast from San Francisco:

Who influences your style?
I really like people who dress for themselves and not for others. For example, I love how Johnny Depp, Mary-Kate Olsen, Kate Moss and Roisin Murphy dress. It's never suppose to be, it just is - and I think it's a gift. Also, I doubt any of them truly know they are fashion icons they just dress.

If you could shop at one store for the rest of your life what would it be?
Dover Street Market in London. It's the kind of shop that is all about detail, both visually and service-wise. There is something for everyone and often times one can expect to see rather unique pieces. I also like that the buy is done selectively and chances are you won't spot someone wearing them same thing as you. Oh, and the cafe upstairs is delicious!

Who are your favorite designers?
My style is all about classic clothes that will be relevant years from now and I feel Maison Martin Margiela, Rick Owens, Junya Watanabe, Balenciaga and Raquel Allegra fit that.

What are the 5 essentials in your closet?
1. A great, classic watch like my vintage oyster pearl Rolex
2. Classic Cosabella bra in black
3. Rick Owens leather jacket
4. Ray-Ban aviator sunglasses
5. James Perse cotton T-shirt

Do you read any other blogs?
I love A Shaded View On Fashion. Diane Pernet is a genius. I truly admire her, and I believe she inspired me to do Love Is The New Black. I also love Nowness, which I wouldn't say is a blog. I think it is more of an online fashion magazine, as well as Sang Bleu, which technically is a magazine. StyleLikeU too - it's nice to see personal style with a conscious. Oh, and of course who doesn't like Tavi? She's everything I wish I could have been in my teen years. I'm happy she's expressing her unique style at a young age, so other kids have someone to relate too.

Can you explain the title of your blog?
When I was searching for a name that I thought would describe me and the blog, I knew I wanted it to be about two things that are pretty much timeless. The color black is infinity and then there's love. I thought the two of them together were the perfect match which is how Love Is The New Black manifested.

What are your interests aside from blogging?
I love yoga! Yoga is so important to me and it brings me so much joy to my life. I feel best when I'm upside down on my hands or head - it's this sense of self gratification.

Whats your one fashion regret?
I know somewhere out there this is photo of me with platinum hair, neon green top, dog collar and baggy jeans... do I need to keep going? Because already the outfit speaks on it's own.

Describe your perfect outfit
It's difficult to answer this question because I'm a Gemini and it really all depends which twin decides to dictate the day, LOL! I know combining comfort and fashion is a bit taboo, but I'm saying it. The perfect outfit would consist of this, while still exuding personal style. Currently, I'm obsessed with my Rick Owens double face cashmere coat, my Balenciaga leather leggings I scored on sale by accident at Barneys a few years ago, a simple boyfriend style T-shirt, my Hermes cuff and a fabulous handbag of some sort and sneakers... yes I said it, sneakers. I love Converse!

What are your tips for aspiring bloggers?
Start young, live with your parents as much as possible (shopping is expensive), hire a PR person, but most of all dress for you, not for other people.
