Steven Warren, Alleged Repeat Rapist, In Custody And Suspected Of Third Woman's Murder

Repeat Rapist Caught, Suspected Of Third Woman's Murder

Miami-Dade police say a repeat rapist is in custody after leads resulted in the arrest of Steven Warren on December 31.

The 37-year-old is thought to be responsible for two rapes, and police say he is also suspected in the murder of another woman in Overtown.

Investigators say Warren's first known victim was a woman walking on NW 12th Street on August 25. According to the arrest affidavit, the defendant called her by name and she asked for a ride on his bike. When they reached NW Miami Place and 17th Street, Warren told the victim his bike had a flat tire. He then grabbed the victim by the neck and led her into a nearby field, where he took off the victim's clothes and raped her.

Once the assault was over, Warren told the victim not to talk to police because she was a prostitute and they would not believe her, according to the affidavit.

Three months later, on November 23, the same subject targeted a woman at the back of the Overtown Youth Center at 450 NW 14th Street. According to the arrest affidavit, he jumped on her back and choked her until she passed out. When she came to, Warren had dragged her into an alley told her he wanted some "head." The victim told police she feared for her life so she complied. Warren then forced the woman to have sexual intercourse.

Warren is also suspected in the homicide of a young woman found straggled on May 16 at N. Miami Avenue and 14th Street.

Police request that anyone with information about any of these cases contact their Special Victims Unit at (305) 603-6300 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS (8477).

Warren is being held at Miami-Dade County Jail on $44,000 bond.
