PHOTOS: Go Fly A Kite... In India

In anticipation of Uttarayan day, kite enthusiasts from 42 countries have flocked to Gujarat, India, according to the Times of India. The five-day festival kicked off in Ahmedabad on Jan. 10, with kite-flyers from 23 countries participating at Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.

The Times of India reports that thousands of visitors from as far away as Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Australia have turned up to watch and participate in the kite-flying festivities. And while the event launched at Sabarmati Riverfront on Tuesday, more festivities will take place inside the walled city, which reportedly include kite-making workshops, music and food.
