At first glance, it's kitschy. Cherubic and wide-eyed figures in baby blue dresses stare sweetly at the viewer. But when you scope out the details of Yoshitomo Nara's work, it becomes unsettling. Strange proportions and eerie, sometimes violent imagery make his work more complex than the pastel-colored veneer lets on.
