Carl Kleiner Transforms Ikea Catalog Images Into Art

You'll Never Look At Kitchenware The Same Again

There's nothing simple about minimalist style -- just look at these Carl Kleiner photographs for proof. The images forgo the usual backdrop of a styled kitchen to focus completely on the IKEA products using a unique bird's eye view. Through intricate pattern work and a precise use of color, Kleiner has transformed ordinary items into artwork.

And, this isn't the first time he's done so. Kleiner, again alongside wife and professional stylist Evelina Kleiner, created the photos for IKEA's baking book entitled Homemade Is Best. The pair used a similarly minimal design sense, this time transforming the expected idea of cookbooks by focusing on the ingredients themselves rather than the results. The book is unfortunately not available in the United States, but you can visit Trendland to admire the incredible photography.
