'Late Late Show': David Duchovny Knows His Son Is Straight (VIDEO)

How 'American Idol' Helped David Duchovny Figure Out His Son's Sexuality

Last night "Californication" star David Duchovny told "The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson" (Weeknights, 12:37 a.m. on CBS) how he figured out that his son was straight.

After telling Craig Ferguson that it didn't matter to him whether his son was gay or straight, Duchovny said the penny dropped when the two of them were watching "American Idol" together a few years back.

Season 6 finalist Haley Scarnato was, in Duchovny's opinion, not the best singer in the world -- in fact, HuffPostTV even named her one of the worst-ever "Idol" finalists -- but she was very attractive.

However, what did Duchovny junior think of Scarnato? "She's got the best ... voice!"

Catch David Duchovny as Hank Moody as Season 5 of "Californication" continues each Sunday night at 10:30 p.m. EST on Showtime. "American Idol" Season 11 airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. EST on Fox. "The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson" airs Weeknights, 12:37 a.m. on CBS.
