Sephora Prisma Chrome Eyeshadows: Beauty Lab

Escape To The Caribbean With Sephora's New Eyeshadows

The summer before I turned 13, my mother took me on a trip to Saint Thomas. Stepping off of the massive ship, we were greeted by curvaceous women dressed in elaborate head wraps, dresses and bangles that would put The Man Repeller Leandra Medine's "arm party" to shame. And now I'm rediscovering the island's wave of colors with this new eye makeup from Sephora.

Prisma Chrome Eyeshadows are tiny palettes that are rich in both pigment and shine. Combining two different makeup finishes -- cream and powder -- the product has a velvety texture that made disturbing its wave shape nearly impossible.

Yet, I did and the results are amazing. I like to blend the navy, gold and purple colors when doing a smokey eye -- creating a jeweled, ombre effect against my dark complexion. For an eye-brightening alternative to simple black liner, I wet a thin, angled brush with water before dipping into the shadow; I complete my look with mascara and nude lip gloss. A trip to the Carnival festival in Trinidad is next on my itinerary.
