January Dining In New York: Five Food Highlights

This article comes to us courtesy of Tasting Table New York.

Each month, HuffPost NY joins TastingTable.com's New York editor, Tressa Eaton, to highlight our five favorite finds from the city's amazing culinary scene. Here's what caught our eye in January::

Say Hola To La Churreria : Say “hola” to this new churros and chocolate shop in Nolita. Chef Jesús "Lolo" Manso will hook you up with a paper cone filled with these hot, fried, sugary Spanish treats along with a steaming cup of hot chocolate and pressed sandwiches.

White Out: Get familiar with all the Australian coffee that has recently touched down in New York with two new Aussie-owned coffee shops (one owned by Hugh Jackman!). Don't leave without trying a flat white. Not quite a cappuccino or espresso, it is its own silky creation.

Margaritaville: We've found your perfect margarita destination located conveniently at Tepito in the East Village. The Mexican food by Adrian Ramirez has a modern touch, such as the fried oysters served on yuca chips.

Saint Tasty: Take a walk on the delicious side with an eating itinerary and map for St. Mark's Place. Stops on the tour include hot dogs with Japanese toppings, modernized banh mi and some of the best pudding we've ever tasted.

Best Thing on Sliced Bread: Try the wacky creations at the new grab-and-go JoeDough Sandwich Shop and your idea of a sandwich will be forever changed. We're fans of the Wedge Sandwich, packed with iceberg leaves and blue cheese dressing.
