HuffPost Arts Presents Design Thursday

It's Design Thursday!

HuffPost Arts is pleased to bring you this week's edition of Design Thursday, where aesthetics and functionality don't just get along... they are practically attached at the hip. This week we have textilers gone mad, the sexiest libraries you've ever seen and a New York underground park.

Artist Perry Hall discusses his new iPad app Sonified, in which one can hear colors and see sounds. "In his paintings he has developed techniques that bring or set matter alive again on the canvas, allowing their space and time to be brought inward in a collaboration of discovery."

Check out the preview for the upcoming documentary "Stitched," chronicling the intensity of a quilting competition. But don't expect all rocking chairs and nap time, this quilt festival is cut-throat.

As much as we love the internet, we don't love the negative affect it is having on libraries around the world. In the age of instant knowledge people are needing (and wanting) libraries less and less. But looking through stacks of books to find the perfect one and curling up with it in pure silence... there is no better feeling. Check out the 10 most beautiful libraries we've ever seen. They are stunning enough to make you forget about reading.

"It sounds like something out of a science fiction novel: an underground park in New York City? But the LowLine is very much in motion. Two masterminds have teamed up in the project of creating a lush, subterranean mecca in 2 acres of empty underground space." Read our interview with the project's architect and see how you can help.

Thanks for reading. We'll see you next week...
