Monster Gator On The Loose In Troy's Backyard On 'Swamp People' (VIDEO)

Monster Gator Loose In Troy's Yard On 'Swamp People'

When the swamp is in one's backyard, it's too for of a stretch to expect alligators to make it their home as well from time to time. But it's no less frightening when one is encountered so close, as Troy found out the hard way on "Swamp People" (Thu., 9 p.m. EST on History).

The gator was none too happy to be disturbed, but they were none too happy to have the uninvited guest. And getting rid of a pest like an alligator is a far more dangerous task than fending off raccoons or squirrels. This job took Troy, his two sons, plenty of equipment and a loaded shotgun. And still, the gator was nearly getting the best of them.

The beast is at home in the swamps, while they were stuck on their boats and incredibly wary of those sharp teeth and powerful jaws. The first time Jacob got the animal in his sights, he tried to take aim, but a quick snap of the alligators jaws and it began wrestling with Jacob over control of the gun. Unfortunately, there's no way to fire a kill shot from that vantage.

After several tense moments, as the alligator went on the offensive, snapping at the guys in the boats, Jacob finally got his shot and the excitement was over. Enough excitement to work up an appetite. Good thing they'd just taken out an animal that was both a dangerous threat and a bona fide feast.
