Lazy Beauty: The Hair Clip Edition

'90s Hair Accessory Returns

When I'm at home and need to gather my curls into an updo, I usually reach for bobby pins. However, a few of my fellow Stylelist editors (who shall remain nameless) swear by the good old butterfly clip. The hair accessory, which reached the height of its popularity during the '90s, has regained notoriety thanks to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sporting one at the United Nations. But to support my case that the hair clip is acceptable for outside the house, I look to Kate Hudson.

The "Something Borrowed" actress was spotted at a Yankees game in 2009 with her blond locks swept up in a butterfly clip. While our eyes were immediately drawn to the white hair clamp, we couldn't get over how effortlessly sexy Hudson's hair looked. With her tousled pouf and face-framing pieces, it puts our version of bedhead hair to shame.
