Michelangelo Signorile Talks Sexual Politics, Obama's Gay Marriage Stance On 'The Young Turks'

HuffPost Gay Voices Editor-at-Large and Sirius OutQ radio host Michelangelo Signorile offered his views on the Obama administration's "evolution" on same-sex marriage during an appearance on Thursday's "The Young Turks."

"I think he got himself in a box here with this evolution thing, and he’s really grappling with how to get out of it," Signorile said. "The rest of the political world and the Democratic party has moved on, and it is going to be really tough for them to clamp down on this movement to put it on the platform. The base of the party is really completely behind the issue of full civil rights for gay people."

He also took time to speak about the case of Scott Lively, the Massachusetts-based evangelical pastor now facing a lawsuit from an East African gay advocacy group for "helping spread propaganda and violence" against Uganda's gay community.

"[Ugandans] were influenced by American Christian evangelicals," he noted. "[Lively] went to Uganda, he whipped up really enormous hate there...he really just kind of just demonized homosexuality and helped to influence laws that just stripped people of rights."
