'Swamp People': A Gator Gar Demands The Attention Of Glenn And Mitchell (VIDEO)

A Gator Gar Demands Attention On 'Swamp People'

Gators aren't the only dangers lurking in the waters, as seen on this week's installment of "Swamp People" (Thu., 9 p.m. ET on History). While the series focuses on teams in Louisiana as they partake in the joys and dangers of the alligator hunting season, sometimes something else catches their line, or otherwise gets their attention.

In the case of Glenn and Mitchell in this week's installment, a gator gar got their attention by smacking into their boat. Alligator gars get the name from their double-row of sharp teeth, which differentiates them from other gar. They are also the largest of the species, weighing in at 200 pounds and growing up to 10 feet in length. It may not be an alligator, but it's close enough and dangerous enough to warrant the same treatment from the men, and provide the same hearty meal.

Find out what creatures lurk under the water on "Swamp People" every Thursday at 9 p.m. ET on History.
