10-Year-Old Antoine Burks Saves Sister From Fire

10-Year-Old Hero Saves Sister From Burning House

When a fire engulfed their home in Lousville, Ky., the only thing 10-year-old Antoine Burks could think of was getting his younger sister to safety, WAVE-TV.com reports.

The fire would destroy almost everything they owned, but thanks to Antoine's bravery and quick thinking, his six-year-old sister Trinity made it out of the blaze safely.

"I didn't know where to go because the fire was standing right by me, so I couldn't go nowhere," said Trinity.

According to WBKO, the fire started when the little girl applied liquid protectant on her shoes, accidentally spraying some on a nearby lamp.

"The fire came right to us, and I didn't know what to do, and it burnt my leg…that's when I ran out and I saw Trinity needed help, so I ran back in," said Antoine.

Ignoring the encroaching flames, Antoine ran into the burning house to get to his sister.

"I thought, what if something bad happens to her, it might have been my fault because I am her big brother, and I have to protect her," said Antoine.

Antoine and Trinity both suffered first- and second-degree burns on their arms and legs, but are doing well, WBKO reports.
